LONELINESS 

IMG_0139We have walked this earth for millions of years side by side, hand in hand with our curious feelings of fear and loneliness. These ancient emotions could of originated from when we became conscious beings. So what is the cause of these feelings of loneliness and how do we learn to process these emotions in order to free ourselves from this form of soul sickness. (Emotional discomfort). I would like to share my personal journey with loneliness, my understanding of this affliction and how I processed my loneliness allowing me to let go of this uncomfortable state.
I used to be so comfortable with my uncomfortable feelings of loneliness. I had acclimatised to this discomfort for so long I considered it to be an old friend. If I was feeling down I would often allow my old feelings of loneliness to come flooding in, which would amplify my sadness. I did not know where these feelings of loneliness came from or why I used them like a tool to intensify my emotional states. I was just aware of these feelings and that I had a strange emotionally abusive relationship with them.
After 40 years of my crazy relationship with loneliness amongst all the standard states of discomfort we humans experience in our modern high paced distracting lifestyles. I was blessed with the great fortune of meeting a human being who understood about this form of soul sickness he was a great teacher of human emotions and processes and gracious enough to share his wisdom with me. His wisdom changed my life so I want to pass it on in the hope that it can help others.
I always thought loneliness was caused by external influences, I now believe through practising self enquiry methods that loneliness is a personal internally owned emotion. We are our own loneliness, loneliness is born inside from not understanding ourselves as human beings. Not being able to perceive our true essence or our responsibilities to ourselves and our earth.”I was in a crowd of people at a party, yet I felt alone”. These famous words lean towards the theory of loneliness being a personal internal issue.
The more I learned to understand my true self, identify my emotional states and conditions, the more natural it became to cultivate a mentality of self care and personal development. The more I practiced the better and more efficient I became at managing and maintaining stable, positive states. These practices gave way for my true self to shine through, the self I lost along the way. This is when my loneliness began to leave me. The more I got to know and understand my true self the more the feelings of loneliness receded into oblivion. These feelings have now become strangers to me. I only have fleeting memories of how those feelings of loneliness could alter my state emotionally and trap me in a negative mindset.

If we can learn to pay more attention to our emotional conditions, our fears and loneliness may leave..

LETTING GO…

IMG_0133There are many emotional processes which are crucial to our well being, possessing the ability to LET GO is definitely on my crucial list. Literally, this process can be a life saver. LETTING GO can be a very difficult process to master, due to our social conditioning we have been nicely groomed into societies which rely heavily on attachment, we can get attached to just about anyone or anything, so in order for us to start understanding the process and values of LETTING GO we need to alter our conditioned mentalities.
What is this process of letting go, and how is it so beneficial to our health and well being? How many times have you heard the famous three words.. LET IT GO…OR LET IT BE?
If we imagine we are like banks, only we don’t have money in our vaults, we have emotions and feelings. Some are positive and others are negative. Throughout our lives we continuously deposit emotions and feelings into our vaults. There are different types of emotions and feelings we deposit. There are light emotions which are like the money in the tills of the bank, they will come and go so they don’t imprint, rendering them harmless, then there are extreme emotions of elation or deflation. Unfortunately for Humans the heavy emotions get deposited deep in the vaults. After spending our lives depositing heavy emotions they will eventually start to over flow. The emotional weight of our crammed vaults becomes too heavy, we become extremely uncomfortable within ourselves, this in turn effects our behavior and we don’t quite understand what is happening, which only adds to the turmoil within. Having the ability to truly LET GO…prevents this slow accumulation of heavy emotions. We can learn to treat the heavy emotions the same as light emotions, like the money in the bank till, let it come in and LET IT GO OUT…when our vaults become over loaded with heavy emotions we are in deep trouble, so the health benefits from the process of LETTING GO… are immeasurable. A healthy mentality would be to consider our lives as one continual procession of letting go. The more comfortable we are emotionally the more healthy we are as human beings.

WHAT IS ADDICTION Part 1

ADDICTION is one of the most lethal, diverse and complex states a human can experience. ADDICTION is so difficult to understand from both the addicted and the non addicted view point. People can spend their whole lives in ADDICTION and not understand why they are in this state, how they got into it and more importantly, how to get out of it. So for someone to have a reasonably accurate understanding of ADDICTION, they must have been exposed to the state, whilst attempting to understand it and learn about it. ADDICTION can break down any human being from any walk of life. Status is not recognized by ADDICTION. It is a complex mental, physical and emotional sickness that can lay waste to anyone from Kings or Queens to the homeless male or female sleeping under a bridge in a cardboard box. There are no known cures for ADDICTION that we can get out of a packet or bottle from our doctors. There is only one place we can find the cures for our many ADDICTIVE states. That place is within ourselves. Against all the odds an ADDICT must find the courage to accept they need help and guidance from people who have compassion and experience with this complicated sickness. [SOUL SICKNESS]. In order for any ADDICT to be cured from whatever their ADDICTION may be, they have to endure the sometimes painful process of learning to understand their true emotional states and natures. Self enquiring, looking at oneself, the good and the bad in the true light of day, There are great teachers who have the ability to guide us into a greater understanding of our true selves our emotions and how to take care, self heal and maintain our personal wellbeing. Unfortunately this kind of education is not considered of any importance in most of our schools and cultures world wide. Our education is based on gaining personal wealth, stature and materialism. So for those of us that have the good fortune to find and receive emotional based intelligence there may have been a certain amount of struggle and hardship involved along the way. Many of the great teachers have learnt the hard way, as do we all if we wish to face our fears and look upon ourselves with true eyes.
So i believe its time for some truth, from a place of understanding, experience, compassion and none judgement. We shall work through all the guesswork and misunderstandings, along with the grey areas inbetween that have been cast into our mentalities. We shall attempt to drag all the taboos and negative concepts kicking and screaming into the millennium. So we may have more clarification and better understandings of this emotional, mental and physical ailment from which so many of us suffer.

Firstly i believe ADDICTION to be a direct behavioral  manifestation of SOUL SICKNESS, weather it be in physical, mental or emotional form. I believe there are three main categories of ADDICTION which Humans suffer from.

SUBTANCE ADDICTION. Some substances can be mentally ADDICTIVE while others can be mental and physically ADDICTIVE. Which means our bodies can go through painful and sometimes lethal withdrawal symptoms. This is a form of ingesting a substance or substances by smoking, eating, drinking, sniffing along with many other ingenious ways we have discovered of getting substances into our systems. The critical objective behind this behavior is to alter ones state.

MENTAL ADDICTION. This is a form of ADDICTION to altering ones state using our minds. We can dwell on negative emotions and create a depressed state, we can also dwell on positive thoughts to give ourselves a lift in spirits. The mind is a vast space in which we can easily become lost in our own fantasy worlds. The critical objective behind this behavior is to alter ones state.

BEHAVIORAL ADDICTION. This is a form of being ADDICTED to certain behaviors which create extreme states of elation or deflation. Often they will be in combinations of each other. Creating extreme mood swings of high’s and low’s. Humans will put themselves through extremely dangerous situations in order to receive the rush of adrenaline supplied by the body, ¬†and the recognition and adoration that comes from achieving the impossible goal. The critical objective behind this behavior is to alter ones state.

So from these three categories people can be ADDICTED to any one, or combinations of all three depending on the severity of their condition. Some ADDICTIVE behaviors are sociably acceptable, others are not. I would like to address ¬†two issues on ADDICTION which have evolved into our mentalities through our misunderstandings and ignorance of this ailment. Firstly, the mentality that once we are an ADDICT we are always going to be an ADDICT. ¬†I believe this to be a negative mentality which is derogatory and detrimental to the recovery from ADDICTION. We can recover fully from ADDICTION. Secondly there are some opinions or points of view that some people have more ADDICTIVE personalities than others. I believe all humans have the same potential for ADDICTIVE behaviors, however depending on our life stories and environments which we live in, we will have higher or lesser degrees of SOUL SICKNESS. So someone who suffers a higher degree of SOUL SICKNESS will gravitate towards ADDICTIVELY altering their state more than someone with a lesser degree of SOUL SICKNESS. What we can believe in is all ADDICTIVE behaviors both positive and negative have one common denominator, which is to alter our states, searching for high’s, hunting for low’s. looking for anything out there that will make us feel good inside. So essentially ADDICTION is all about our feelings. We live such complex and stressful lives, we feel the need to be free from this state of anxiety, we all devise our own little ways of release. From eating something sweet, going to the pub, watching tv, internet, taking drugs from dealers and doctors, the list is endless and we are coming up with fast and furious ways of altering our states all the time. The question for me is why do all these people feel the need or desire to alter their states so often and in such extreme ways?. From a compassionate point of view it may be said that all Humans suffering from all kinds of ADDICTION are self medicating, trying to rid themselves of their uncomfortable feelings. By using negative and derogatory behaviors towards themselves and their environments. If we look at the bigger picture, it could be said that the whole Human race is in ADDICTION. We are ADDICTED to plundering and ravaging all of our Planets natural resources to such a degree we are putting our Planets life in danger of being able to support and sustain the future existence of Humankind itself. This is truly a form of insanity. We keep practicing our same old negative behavioral patterns expecting the outcome to change. Our contemporary mental conditioning tells us that a healthy successful person is someone with a good job and home, with a certain amount of material possession which in turn relates to their economical status, plus no physical ailments. If we fit this criteria then we will be happy and comfortable. This is the great illusion that succeeds in distracting humans from their true selves. The emotional deceptions we have created which free us from feelings of fear and uncertainty, ¬†born from our consciousness of life itself. We are all faced with this monumental dilemma.

WHAT IS THE TRUTH Stage2

IMG_0175Once we have learned to understand the ownership and practice of ones own truth, we naturally lean towards being aware of our own personal emotional states. We start to receive its wonderful benefits. Primarily we learn to understand our true selves and natures because we are no longer practicing in our false persona’s which we have created in order to be loved and accepted by our piers and families in our every day lives. Speaking and behaving in our TRUTH can also lay foundations for others to do the same. Being forthcoming with your TRUTH and behavior in our contemporary life styles can and is considered a weakness. In fact its the total opposite, it is a great strength to speak your TRUTH, to expose your emotions takes great courage. Hiding your true feelings may be considered a weakness or inability to express oneself.

There can be so many reasons which prevent us from telling the TRUTH, such as covering your back or someone else’s, or not telling the TRUTH because we fear it may upset someone or their feelings, giving rise to a negative or aggressive response. In my experience I have found that most of these fears have no substance. If we tell our TRUTH with compassion and care then i have found quite the opposite reactions to what are expected. The TRUTH is received with warm hearts and a sense of relief, for the burden of ones own deceit and the deception of others has been removed.

So fundamentally we are the TRUTH of ourselves and our behaviors. The more we practice being aware of our personal wellbeing and emotions, the greater we become at accepting and understanding our true natures, leading to acceptance of our true selves, instilling inner comfort and confidence of our personalities. Projecting positive energy, in turn can attract and help others find there place of comfort within themselves, this can only be considered healthy interaction.

In order for us to share our TRUTH with others…..

First we must discover the TRUTH within ourselves….

WHAT IS THE TRUTH ? Stage 1

The TRUTH is a wonderful word that has been corrupted and rearranged on so many levels we no longer understand the essence of the beautiful TRUTH. In our own personal life journeys our minds will often adjust the TRUTH so that we may feel more comfortable within. As a young child I wanted to believe in anything, something i could have faith in that would never let me down, a security and comfort I could keep with me on my journey. I did not believe in most of the things I was being taught at school. And Religions, temples and churches frightened me. So my years at school were an uncomfortable experience for many reasons. I felt like I was being controlled in a strange way that I did not understand. I would go into nature, which for me at that time in my life would be to go down into a small valley that took me to the Manchester Ship Canal. Here I would feel a freedom from the anxiety of the deceptions i did not understand. Being in the field with the birds, and the trees on the opposite bank, the dark red water would gently lap onto the diesel stained rocks on the bank. I would throw something that would float into the Canal and then gather myself a nice pile of rocks to throw at the target, sometimes I would spend hours doing this until it made my arm hurt. The highlight of the day would be when a great container ship would go buy and the waves off the bow would come crashing onto the bank. I would wave at the men on the ship and they would wave back, i remember wondering what part of the world they were from.

I did not know what the Truth was, what it meant or if it even existed. But with the wonderful gift of hindsight I can remember that this was part of my TRUTH, I was just to young to be aware. All I knew was that I felt better inside when I  was here. So Through many decades of searching, listening, watching and learning I have come to the conclusion that there is only one TRUTH that is of any importance to human beings.

I believe this to be our own TRUTH, your truth, the truth of ones self. I believe our TRUTH is how we feel in any given moment, we can’t make up our TRUTH or even design our TRUTHS. I believe TRUTH is how we perceive our environment with our senses, which create emotional feelings within any given moment. So our TRUTHS are for ever changing and evolving perceptions of ourselves, our environments and how we interact with them emotionally, mentally and physically. The TRUTH is free forming and free flowing. I remember one of my Teachers asking me to tell him the TRUTH, I said what do you mean. He said, any TRUTH that you know of or believe in. My reply was, I don’t believe in anything so I don’t know about any TRUTH.

How do you feel right now after our conversation about the TRUTH he said, in a playful manor, I sighed,  I feel confused and uncomfortable, So there we have it my friend he said merrily, you just told me the TRUTH. What TRUTH I asked, your TRUTH my friend. You told me your true feelings in that moment. This is expressing your TRUTH.

BLOOD FATHER

IMG_0254This is a picture of my BLOOD FATHER, this was taken in 1959. My father was 21 years old. I want to share my experiences and concepts of how I learned to understand the importance of what it is to be a parent. I believe this roll to be the most important responsibility for humans.

Unfortunately my BLOOD FATHER died roughly four months after my BLOOD SISTER Jane. He past away three weeks ago, Jane’s death inspired me to start writing, so i would like to dedicate this blog to my BLOOD FATHER and to all Fathers, Son’s and Daughters. May we all learn to understand each other and walk with peace in our hearts. When my dad passed away so soon after my sister i can’t deny it was a heavy blow to my system, my heart was so heavy, the sheer emotional weight forced me to cry. Running all the memories, the sadness and the laughter we shared, like a movie in my mind. All the if’s, why’s, what for’s and maybe’s came rushing in. ¬†Then i went into shock state for a few days. I could not really concentrate on anything and kept drifting in and out of my reality. Like a dream state only fully awake. After all the hard work i put into processing my grief for my sister Jane. Just when i had reached what I considered to be ¬†a healthy emotional state of my process, i found myself back in the deep waters trying to keep my head above water in the great Sea of grief.

My BLOOD FATHER was addicted to gambling, because of this devastatingly lethal addiction his behavior de stabilized my whole family. So we must remember as parents, any negative behaviors, emotions or mentalities can and will have devastating effects on our immediate families. Also these negative patterns can be imprinted into our children which are then passed down through the generations, in this we can believe, therein lie’s our ancestral Soul Sickness.

A PRAYER FOR FATHERS

Dear Father, James Hulme 5th, I forgive you for all things. As i forgive all our for Farthers. I understand you, with your emotions, mentalities and your behaviors, i accept this fully in my heart space. The foundation of our relationship is born from Love so it runs deep and strong. Bless you for bringing me into existence in this wonderful human form. May you forgive me, for your failures as a Farther, were my failures as a Son. Now you are free from our ancestral chain. I will work hard and practice keeping myself healthy in Soul Mind and Body, so that i may be the last link in our ancestral chain of Soul Sickness.

COMPASSION

IMG_0095Human COMMPASSION, this is one of my favorite Human traits. I could write about this wonderfull Human quality for ever, so i am going to try and condense this subject down a little to its essential ingredients, meanings and qualities.

True and pure COMPASSION is one of our greatest gifts if we use it correctly. This emotional wonder tool can be called upon to heal most of, if not all our emotional turmoil and discomfort. Born from our love, deep in our heart space there is an infinite pool of COMPASSION, it has no hidden agenda, holds no prejudice, does not care for the color of our skin nor how one behaves, does not recognize boundaries, borders or geographical locations, no rules, regulations or limitations, neither does it recognize Human status, for true COMPASSION has none of the above. The great wonder of COMPASSION is that it is ours. It begins with our learning to have compassion for ourselves, once we have compassion within it requires no energy to express or feel and gives powerful selfless emotional healing in return, empowering our own personal well being. Then in turn benefitting others and our environments. It is our infinite resource of COMPASSION that fuel our understanding, acceptance and forgiveness.

In order for true COMPASSION to be attained and applied in its correct manor we can not be choosy with whom or what we wish to feel compassion for, we must have COMPASSION for everyone our environment and all things there in, only then do we feel it’s true healing benefits which in turn deepens our own resource of COMPASSION. So the cycle goes on, the more COMPASSIONATE we are the more emotionally healthy we become. COMPASSION Is a pure and simple state of selfless healing.

A great way to begin practicing COMPASSION is to start trying to consider and understand the feelings and wellbeing of others. But remember the golden rule, we must try practicing this with all things, from our loved ones to our enemies.

I hope this has given some insight or guidance into the ownership and application of this wonderful Human emotional quality.

A true COMPASSIONATE attitude towards others does not change, even if they are behaving negatively. DL.

GRIEF

IMG_0004I would like to write these words about GRIEF. In the past year i have been unfortunate enough to loose a lifetime friend Ginty, my cat Prince Valentine and last but by no means least, my blood sister Jane, who passed away only a few months ago. So while my grieving process is so fresh and strong i would like to try and write about this difficult journey which we all have to go through or experience at some, or many points in our lives.

GRIEF is a strange and powerful emotion which we need to process, we can grieve for many different things, it is not strictly something we will experience when someone or something in our life dies. We can GRIEVE for many different reasons and for many different experiences. I believe GRIEF can be one of our most powerful states of emotional pain and suffering. GRIEF for a loved one, wife, husband, partner, child, sibling or friend can be so emotionally painful, it can be deadly in its own right. The sheer emotional weight of fear, pain and anxiety which comes with GRIEF is mainly avoided by humans. These feelings are too strong and consume us with too much pain to allow ourselves to fully experience them. Our natural emotional preservation kicks in and allows us to either distract ourselves from this experience or just bury it deep inside, which allows us to be in denial of the GRIEVING process. So to break this emotional process down to basics, its the mother of all pain and internal discomfort, it can even make a human being who is suffering from deep GRIEF feel like they themselves are actually dying inside. So when we avoid the GRIEVING process for whatever reasons, this great pain and sadness is stored away within our souls and can lead to a permanent state of distress which we gradually accclimatise ourselves to. This dynamic of personal emotional denial, over time can manifest into a myriad of emotional and physical ailments.

In order for us to go through the GRIEVING process in an emotionally healthy manor we have to open our hearts to the full force of our GRIEF. Embrace this pain, and understand that it is born from our love and compassion, understanding the pain and sadness in this way helps us to accept the tragedy of our loss, this is the first step we must take in order to feel and then let go of the emotional weight of our GRIEF. We simply have to express this inner turmoil in any way we can. We are not designed to hold onto and carry heavy negative emotion. Imagine holding out your arm with a glass of water in your hand. We can do this with relative comfort for a while, but no matter how strong we are, sooner or later, the glass of water becomes too heavy and  we will have to put it down or let it go. The weight of the simple glass of water becomes too great to hold onto. Emotional discomfort in humans is similar. The longer we hold onto it, the heavier it gets, the greater the burden of  GRIEF becomes.

So in principal the quicker we can process negative emotion, GRIEF, pain, anxiety, sadness, loneliness or fear, the healthier we become. Super healthy humans, through great practice, only feel negative emotions fleetingly, then let them go. Personally maintaining there emotional wellbeing.

Through embracing my grief for my sister, slowly coming to terms with the fact that i would never see her again, never speak with her or share her company. The painful emotions gradualy eased and made way for my acceptance and compassion. I feel i have gained new strength and depth to my understanding of death and life. My love for my sister is full in my heart, the pain has gone away. The great spirit of my sister is within me and this is a great comfort. I feel blessed to have the honor of being her brother and sharing her life on this earth.

We have to let go….in order to flow…..
